Tim DeRoche studied cognitive neuroscience and neurolinguistics at UCLA and worked in the labs of Linguistics Professor Suzie Curtiss and cognitive psychologist Stephen Engel. He was admitted to the Ph.D. program in the prestigious Brain and Cognitive Sciences (BCS) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and was a semifinalist for a National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowship offered by the U.S. Department of Defense. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Pomona College.
